The 24th EASCLE Webinar premiered a new format. In this session on Ecozon@: Ask the Editors, editor in chief, Carmen Flys-Junquera, and assistant editor, Heather Sullivan, of the European Journal of Literature, Culture and Environment (Ecozon@) gave scholars in the Environmental Humanities insights into the “behind the scenes” of the publishing process at Ecozon@. After a brief introduction to the history of the journal which began in 2010 and its establishment on the ecocritical scene, which paralleled profound developments and expansions in the field of the Environmental Humanities and Ecocriticism, the editors walked participants through the journal’s core sections, submission to publication steps, and further opportunities to become involved with the journal, such as serving as assistant editor, book reviewer, or applying as guest editor for a special topic. The editors also addressed some core strategies for scholars to decide whether a journal is a good fit for a specific article submission, tailoring one’s submission to the focus of the journal, and speeding up the review process by paying close attention to technical requirements of a journal’s submission guidelines. Further spotlights of the session became the journal’s unique commitment to multilingualism (and thus publishing articles in Spanish, Italian, French, and German, as well as English), its Creative Arts Section, and the array of themes covered over the years in the Special Topics section. In the second half of the webinar, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and get further insights into the various steps that go into the publication of every single issue of the journal, the intricacies of indexing, and the variety of skills and labor that flow into each publication.
