Call for Papers for the section “Cultures and Citizenship”
Dear friends and colleagues,
I’m happy to share the Call for Papers for the section “Cultures and Citizenship”, part of the Oxford Intersections: Cultures of Waste series (Oxford University Press), edited by Myra Hird and Cecilia Åsberg.
I’m editing this section, which focuses on the ways in which waste, culture, and citizenship intersect—through narratives, practices, and imaginaries of responsibility, care, and belonging. We welcome contributions from across disciplines and regions, exploring creative, political, and ecological forms of engagement.
You can read the full call and find submission details here:
Oxford Intersections – Current Calls for Papers
Please feel free to circulate this call widely or share it with anyone who might be interested.
Questions and informal expressions of interest are warmly welcome!
With all best wishes,
Serenella Iovino

Oxford Intersections: Cultures of Waste
Cultures of Waste explores how waste—both material and symbolic—reflects and perpetuates global environmental, health, and social injustices through interconnected societal, political, and economic systems, offering interdisciplinary insights into how these dynamics might be understood and addressed.
