L’Esprit Créateur

Volume 57, Issue 1 (2017)

– French Ecocriticism/L’écocritique française

The latest issue of the journal L’Esprit Créateur contains 10 essays that seek to broaden the horizons of the environmental humanities. The first issue of Volume 57, guest-edited by Daniel A. Finch-Race and Julien Weber, is now available online via Project MUSE.

Ecocriticism, which focuses on correspondences between environments and cultural outputs, largely concerns itself with British and North American nature writing. The journal issue, which builds on an ecopoetically themed issue of the journal Dix-Neuf produced by the same editorial duo in 2015, illustrates the richness of a growing field by exploring French and francophone materials that have received little attention in ecocritical terms. The 10 essays should interest researchers focused on animal studies, comparative literature, ecological thought, environmental matters, and francophone cultures.
